A Strong Start to 2026: Volunteer Clothing Sort Event was a Success!
Last Sunday, more than 30 dedicated volunteers gathered at House of Hope Resale for a Clothing Sort Party at our local thrift store, helping us take a big step toward processing the 25,000+ clothing donations we received during the holiday season.
Volunteers from Barrington, Lake Zurich and neighboring Chicago suburban communities worked side by side to sort, organize, and prepare donated clothing for resale. Thanks to their time and energy, thousands of items are now one step closer to hitting our sales floor—where every purchase directly supports families in our local community facing crisis.
While this volunteer event made a huge impact, there is still more work to be done. With so many generous donations coming in, we are continuing to look for volunteers who want to be part of the behind-the-scenes work that makes our thrift store possible.

To keep the momentum going, we’re hosting another Open House Volunteer Clothing Sort Event on Sunday, January 25. This volunteer opportunity is perfect for individuals, families, students, and community groups who want to give back locally while supporting sustainable thrifting and nonprofit work in the Chicago suburbs.
No prior experience is needed, just a willingness to help and a heart for community service! 🙂 Volunteers will assist with sorting clothing by category and season, helping prepare items for sale in our resale store.
