Little Hands, Big Hope: Join Us at Barrington’s 2026 KidFest Event
After more than 40 years of partnering with Barrington families, House of Hope Resale is proud to share that we’ll be at KidFest 2026, the area’s biggest celebration of nature, community, & the joy of getting kids outside together.
When: Saturday, May 2, 2026, 11:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.
Where: Citizens Park, Barrington
Why we’re there
KidFest’s mission is to connect families and children with nature and to work together to make a difference in the world. That mission lives at the heart of what we do every day. Our resale store gives thousands of donated items a second life, keeping them out of landfills and turning everyday choices into a quiet, powerful act of caring for the planet. And every purchase made in our store funds outreach programs that provide food, shelter, and rent assistance to neighbors in our local community.
When sustainability is practiced as a family, it becomes a habit that lasts a lifetime. Sorting donations, reusing what others no longer need, choosing secondhand , these are small, tangible acts that show kids how the way we treat our things is connected to how we care for the planet and for one another.
What you’ll find at our booth: Little Hands, Big Hope
We’re building a calm, welcoming space where children can experience giving, not just hear about it. Stop by for:
A kid-sized mini thrift store where children can experience the behind-the-scenes operations of a thrift store.
Kids can sort child-size donations by season, gender and size and set them up on shelves for other children to “purchase” or give to someone else
Toy cash registers to demonstrate how we sell items in the store, where children can play pretend and experience it themselves
Other elements of our store will be brought in, so children can experience how donated items can help the planet and their local community
A Kindness Table with paper and markers, where kids can draw notes to travel along with donated item
A place to pause for parents
We’ve also created a small space for grown-ups. While children explore, parents are welcome to sit, read a few honest stories from the families we serve, and learn how to get involved, whether that’s donating, volunteering, or shopping with us.
A quick QR sign-up will be there for anyone who’d like to hear more about volunteering with House of Hope.
Come say hello!
Whether you’re new to House of Hope or have been part of our community for years, we’d love to meet you and introduce you to House of Hope! Bring the kids, fly a kite, and stop by our corner of Citizens Park to see how small acts, donating, thrifting, choosing to give, can make a real difference in our community and in the world we’re handing to the next generation.
See you May 2!
